Communications

Selected communications work from nonprofit and advocacy contexts, focused on translating complex ideas into clear, accessible content across email campaigns, digital platforms, and program materials, with a strong emphasis on audience engagement and lifecycle messaging.

Legislative Bill Tracker – Policy Communication

This weekly bill tracker was part of an ongoing communications effort to keep stakeholders informed during Florida’s legislative session.

Working within an established template, I was responsible for updating the tracker each week—summarizing key legislation, translating policy details into accessible language, and maintaining a clear, consistent system to reflect each bill’s progress through committees.

This work required close attention to detail, strong judgment about what information to prioritize, and the ability to present complex policy developments in a format that readers could quickly understand and use.

Give Miami Day – Fundraising Email Campaign

This series of emails was part of a multi-touch fundraising campaign for Give Miami Day, designed to guide supporters from awareness to action over the course of a single day.

The campaign balances storytelling, urgency, and impact—starting with mission-driven context, moving into real examples of how donations support children and families, and culminating in time-sensitive appeals tied to matching grants and deadlines.

These emails contributed to a campaign that raised approximately $973,000 from more than 1,700 donors.

ReadingPals Conference - Event Promotion Campaign

This email and supporting graphic were created to drive registration for a statewide virtual conference focused on early literacy and volunteer engagement.

The messaging emphasizes clarity and momentum—using a deadline-driven subject (“the big day is almost here”) alongside a straightforward call to action. The accompanying graphic reinforces key event details and extends the campaign visually across channels.

Together, these assets demonstrate how messaging and design work in tandem to support event conversion.

Legislative Debrief – Advocacy Event Email

This email promotes a legislative debrief event focused on early childhood policy in Florida.

The goal was to translate complex policy developments into clear, accessible language while maintaining credibility and structure. The email highlights key speakers, frames the relevance of the event, and guides readers toward registration without overwhelming them with information.

This piece reflects my approach to advocacy communications: making policy understandable, engaging, and actionable.

Re-engagement & Donor Retention Emails

These emails focus on maintaining and deepening relationships with supporters after their initial engagement or donation.

Rather than making an immediate ask, the messaging centers on gratitude, shared impact, and opportunities for continued involvement—such as surveys or upcoming events. The tone is intentionally conversational and affirming, reinforcing a sense of belonging within the organization’s community.

This work reflects an understanding that effective communications don’t end at conversion—they build long-term connection and trust.

KidCast – Multimedia Engagement Email

This email was designed to share a lighter, more accessible piece of advocacy content during Florida’s legislative session.

Centered around a video series featuring conversations between policymakers and young students, the messaging balances context with warmth—inviting readers to engage with policy in a more human and approachable way.

It demonstrates how multimedia can be used to broaden engagement and connect audiences to advocacy work beyond traditional formats.

The Future Call – Recurring Engagement Email

This email promotes a recurring community call designed to bring together advocates, partners, and stakeholders in early childhood work.

The messaging highlights both the immediate value of the session (featured speakers, discussion topics) and the broader purpose of the series—creating an ongoing space for shared learning and collaboration.

It represents a steady, relationship-driven approach to engagement rather than a one-time conversion moment.

The Children's Movement of Florida (Website)

Contributed to website content development and digital communications across key initiatives, including structuring pages, writing and refining copy, and translating complex policy and program information into clear, accessible web content for a broad audience.

Led content development on select pages from concept through publication, shaping structure, messaging, and user flow in collaboration with executive leadership and internal teams. Also supported ongoing site updates, incorporating impact data, program insights, and evolving organizational priorities across existing content.
